Chipmunks are small squirrel like animals that can be easily identified by their striped backs and heads. Native to North America and Asia, chipmunks are known for their habit of collecting and storing food for the winter.
Their diet can be quite varied and usually consists of grain, nuts, berries, fruits, worms, fruit, insects and even small mammals such as young mice. Chipmunks have large cheek pouches that help them to carry food to either their burrows or hidden larders for the winter.
